If you’ve never seen the spectacular village daffodils in Taddington you're missing a treat. But that’s not the only feast for the eyes this Easter, we celebrate the return of colour and light days with Brighter Skies, an Easter art exhibition featuring work by invited, professional artists from around the region. There’s a chance to see original paintings, photographs, digital art and fashion illustration. Earings by Opal and Palm and stylish handmade books by Martin Atkinson will also be for sale. If you need other kinds of sustenance, generous helpings of the mouth-watering homemade cakes (a speciality of this friendly village) should do the trick. Artists include Terry Baker, Valerie Dalling, Cathy Butcher, Janet Mayled, Susan Vance, Diana Syder, Chris Gilbert and Chris Hales. There will be live music at intervals across the two days as well as a display of work done by members of ArtClass, the popular Taddington art workshop tutored by Diana Syder and Cheryl van Burgh.
“For many of our Artclass members it’s a chance to show their work for the first time. We've had a core of people who are interested in making art in the village for several years managed to keep going during Covid on Zoom.” says Diana. “Making art and doing something creative is a brilliant way to combat the doldrums and playing with new ideas always lifts the spirits. During lockdown we Zoomed and posted tasks and projects. All our students enjoy experimenting with new materials and exciting ideas.”
BRIGHTER SKIES runs from Friday 15th April and Saturday 16th, 10 – 4pm, at the Bramwell Institute, Main Street, Taddington, SK17 9UD (parking at rear, disabled access). Further details tel: 01298 85336.
