Darley Dale in Bloom Easter fundraiser

Come and join ‘Peter Rabbit’ for a carriage ride around the Whitworth Park, courtesy of Red House Stables, on Saturday 9 April from 12 noon to 2pm. Tickets are £5.00 per person which also includes entry into the Bunny Hunt and a ticket for the raffle prize of a chocolate bunny. The Bunny Hunt takes children on a fun walk around the park, looking out for laminated pictures of bunnies which have been attached to anything which isn’t moving!

Darley Dale in Bloom are hoping for good weather for their fundraising event; in case of snow or other inclement weather on the day, please phone Caroline at Red House Stables on 01629 733583 or 07717 334359 if you would like to confirm that the event is going ahead.

Darley Dale in Bloom is a community group which works with Darley Dale Town Council, the Whitworth Trust and has links with other community groups and businesses in the area. They were very pleased to be named the ‘Project of the Year’ at the Darley Dale Town Council Awards for 2021, which was announced at a dinner in the Whitworth Centre in November last year.

The beds along the A6 in Darley Dale have been looking especially colourful this winter, along with the other planters in the town and the park. The group will be entering the East Midlands in Bloom competition again this year, which showcases the work of other local groups involved in horticultural activities, as well as judging how good Darley Dale is looking. To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, they will be planting up two new beds in the Whitworth Park for their celebrations over the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, and have chosen a white, red and blue scheme for their planters around the town and for the beds in the Whitworth Park.

Volunteers to help with their work would be warmly welcomed. If you are interested and have a few hours to spare please contact Val on 07858 963724 for more information.
