The final concert in Matlock Music’s 2021/22 season is a performance by the Tempest Wind Ensemble on Friday 13th May. The group was originally due to perform last December but had to cancel due to illness of one of its members, so we are delighted that we have been able to rearrange their visit before the end of the season.
The ensemble is made up of five highly talented international musicians who started playing together in 2020 when they were current and ex-pupils of the Royal Northern College of Music. It comprises Jack Rainey (flute), Tommy Hill (oboe), Seb Marshall (clarinet), Beatriz Carvalho (bassoon) and Molly Edwards (horn).
Their programme will include music by Malcolm Arnold (Three Shanties), Jacques Ibert (Trois Pièces Brèves), Carl Nielson (Wind Quintet Op. 43), Ligeti (Six Bagatelles for Wind Quintet) and Danzi (Wind Quintet in G Minor Op. 56 No.2).
Do come and join us for what promises to be an exciting evening of live first-class music-making.
The concert is on Friday 13th May at the Wheeldon Hall, Highfields School, Lumsdale off the Chesterfield Road, Matlock, DE4 5NA starting at 7.30pm. Single concert tickets at £12 will be available at the door, payable by cheque (if possible). Under 18s are free and students and registered job-seekers pay half-price. All seats are unreserved. There is ample parking at the school. Further information is available on our website www.matlockmusic.org.uk or by phoning George Wolfe, Tel 01433 631308
