Wirksworth Big Book Day 2022

Saturday the 23rd of April also Shakespeare's birthday! What a great coincidence.

A fabulous event for book lovers of all ages in our beautiful little town.

A vibrant indoor book fair full of authors and book sellers from the local area in the Memorial Hall starting at 10am until 4pm.

A fabulous outdoor vintage market on the memorial gardens until about 4pm.

Little book stalls outside our lovely independent shops raising money for the Wirksworth Skate Park Appeal.

Stroll around historical streets and alleyways, enjoy really good street food, visit fabulous independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Dramawirks youth theatre will be performing in St Mary's church in celebration of Shakespeare's birthday at 10-30 and 11-15 am. A must for any Shakespeare fan or just a fun break in your day.

Poets in the snug at the Hope and Anchor starting at 11-30am. Local poets waxing lyrical.

Call for a drink, food and poetry. Free entry all day.

Rob Stamper "The Mad Bard of Middleton" terrorising people around the town with his witty banter dressed as Shakespeare! Starting at the Hope and Anchor snug at 12noon and then around the town.

The Red Lion and Unami are excelling themselves at this years Big Book Day.

Catch classic Pub themed audio books in the snug by the fire with a pint or a cuppa.

A great vinyl sale and in the restaurant recipes from classic cook books through the ages, could be very unusual!

Catch the Morris dancers at 11am in town, all buskers are very welcome.
