Derbyshire Dales Civic Chair Councillor David Burton with his wife Ruth recently accepted an invitation to visit a 1st Matlock Boys' Brigade and 2nd Matlock Girls' Brigade meeting.
They were welcomed to Matlock Methodist and United Reformed Church in Bank Road by Boys' Brigade Captain Tom Pilkington and other officers of the Company.
Said Councillor Burton: "This visit was very special for me because, as a youngster, I joined the 3rd Mansfield Baptist Company back in 1963."
After witnessing enthusiastic young people take part in the evening's activities Councillor Burton presented a cheque for £250 from his Civic Purse to assist the Matlock Company.
