MATLOCK MUSIC PRESENTS LIVE MUSIC IN THE DALES

JILL CROSSLAND - Piano

Matlock Music Society concludes its very successful 2023/24 season with a concert on Friday 10th May given by Jill Crossland, the internationally acclaimed pianist.

Jill attended Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, before continuing her studies in Vienna. She made her Wigmore Hall solo debut in 2004 and has developed a preference for Baroque and Classical periods with a focus on the music of Bach, performing his Well-Tempered Clavier from memory since her student years. She now pursues an active concert and recording career and her recent appearances have included the Cadogan, Bridgewater and Fairfield Halls, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Vienna Musikverein, Vienna Konzerthaus, Concert Hall Dublin and the Sage Gateshead. Her recordings include the Bach Goldberg Variations and works by Scarlatti, Mozart and Beethoven. She has featured in the Classic FM Hall of Fame and has broadcast on BBC Radios 3 and 4. Her release of the complete Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier was described by the Penguin Guide as “a remarkable achievement, ranking with the finest.”

Jill’s programme will include Handel’s Chaconne in G major, a selection from Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No 17 in D Minor (Tempest) and Chopin’s Fantaisie-impromptu in C Sharp minor.

Do come and join us for what promises to be an exciting evening of live, first-class music-making to conclude our 2023/24 season.
