The trials will be held on Monday 26th May at Bamford Recreation Ground, the gates open at 9am. As well as the sheepdog trials themselves there will refreshments including food and beer. Stalls will sell plants, honey produce, crafts, gifts, cards and wood products. As well as the trials there will also be a sheep shearing competition, plus ‘Best Conditioned Bitch and Dog’ competition.
This historic, traditional event is always a brilliant day and offers a great atmosphere for all the family. It is amazing to watch the dogs and handlers at work and watch the teamwork between man and dog that has been built up over years of training. These are skills that have been passed over the generations of sheep farmers over many years.
Also taking place is a fell race which was started in 2002 by Malcolm Sowerby with the help of David Eyre who planned the route. This is run in conjunction with the Sheepdog Trials and is started off by the Lady President at 1pm. The entry fee is included in the admission charge to the trials. Family and friends of runners are welcome to enjoy the activities of the trials on the recreation field.
Entry is £5 for spectators, children are free.
