Life in the WI with Lorna Wilson, Lesley Armitage and Ann McPhie
No shortage of WI debating material and initially our interaction was gentle and ponderous. Then what happened? Wow. A groundswell of powerful debate erupted, highly motivated grassroots opinion expressed. An adrenaline charged atmosphere throughout the room. I had to have more than one calming cup of tea during the refreshment break.
Show and Tell. Wear Something Old from your Wardrobe
This was a Fashion Show like no other. Baslow Darlings look good in old, second hand, inherited or “hand me downs”. Indisputable Gorgeous Greenies.
Pancake Day Bus Adventure to Weston Park, Sheffield. Rehearsal with Jane and Vikki
Weston Park Cafe confirmed that pancakes will be on the menu. Though, as Vikki observed, most darlings are going to see the 150 special items exhibition commemorating Weston’s 150th Anniversary. To date there’s only one foody going for a banana pancake covered in fudge sauce! Moi.
Lunch Club at The Peacock, Cutthorpe with Ann McPhie
The weather was windy, wet and cold. We should have walked round Linacre Reservoir before our lunch but most of us “chickened out” preferring to sample the joys of being a couch potato. We joined the heroic walkers later at lunch and marvelled at their stamina, their rosy cheeks and, dare I say it, bedraggled appearance! Made of stern stuff some of our girls.

25th March BVH 2.00-4.00 WISA with Christine Thompson
Plus St John’s Ambulance have been booked for a “Teach-in” on CPR and the use of a Defibrillator during our WISA afternoon. This is an opportunity to gain confidence in the assistance you could offer in the event of an emergency. I don’t want anyone “messing up” if I get taken ill.
