FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO A THRIVING BUSINESS: THE STORY OF LEE WEBB AND BIRCHOVER RECLAMATION LTD

My name is Lee Webb, and I’m the founder and managing director of Birchover

Reclamation Ltd. My journey in the stone industry began at Penine Paving, Newhaven, where I spent 17 years learning the trade from the ground up. Those years gave me a real appreciation for the craftsmanship, hard work, and relationships that make this industry so

special.

After almost twenty years in the trade, I decided it was time to take the plunge and build something of my own. I found a small yard in Pilhough — nothing fancy, just a table, a couple of chairs, and no running water — but it was enough to get started. Determination and passion did the rest.

The name Birchover Reclamation is a nod to my home village, Birchover — the place where the idea first sparked, even though the business itself now lives just over the hill.

As the business grew, I moved to a larger site in Rowsley, which allowed me to take on more stock and customers. Unfortunately, after about a year, the landowner needed the site back. At the time, it felt like a setback — but as it turned out, it was actually the push I needed to find the perfect new home for the business.

Thanks to a customer's recommendation, I came across our current site in Middleton-by-Wirksworth, where we’ve been based since April 2019. It’s been the ideal location to grow Birchover Reclamation into what it is today — a trusted name for quality reclaimed materials, friendly service, and honest advice.

At Birchover Reclamation, we’re also proud to play an active role in our local community. We’re the main kit sponsor for Matlock Town Football Club also their junior team, Matlock Town Gladiators under 9s and we also sponsor Darley Dale Cricket Club. Supporting local sport and community projects is something we’re really passionate about — it’s our way of giving back to the area that’s supported us over the years.

Looking back, it’s been quite a journey from that first little yard with no running water to where we are now. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and I’m grateful to all our loyal customers, suppliers, and staff who’ve supported us along the way.
