MATLOCK MUSIC PRESENTS LIVE MUSIC IN THE DALESSUSANNA BRAUN – PIANO

Matlock Music Society’s exciting 2024/25 season closes with a recital by Swiss pianist Susanna Braun on May 9th. Born in The Hague, she began playing the piano at the age of 9 with a private tutor in Milan and studied at Chetham’s School of Music. Since 2016 she has won scholarships to prestigious British conservatories including Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Susanna is currently pursuing the prestigious postgraduate International Artist Diploma at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Still in her early career, Susanna has already given solo recitals throughout Europe, winning numerous International Competition awards. She debuted at the Tonhalle Zurich in 2024, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV 466 where her delicate touch, virtuosity and musical sensitivity captivated the audience. Her interpretation was praised for its freshness and maturity, offering a refreshing contrast to routine performances. She has performed at prestigious venues around Europe including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. In 2025 she will perform with the BBC Philharmonic and Camerata Manchester. Susanna is also an accomplished violinist and is fluent in English, German and Italian and enjoys philosophy and mountaineering in her spare time!

Susanna’s programme will include Mozart’s Sonata No. 18 in D major, Chopin’s Étude Op. 25 No. 10 in B Minor, Schumann’s Fantasiestücke Op.12, Scarlatti’s Sonata in D major K29, Beethoven’s Sonata No. 13 in E flat Op.27 and Liszt’s Appassionata Étude in F minor and Hungarian Rhapsody in D minor.
