John Whitby, MP for Derbyshire Dales, took part in the official opening of the new permanent Bakewell Banking Hub, which is located in the town centre at Royal Oak Place, Matlock Street, after several months at a temporary location in the Agricultural Business Centre.
The Banking Hub will be open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and offers key over-the-counter services including cash and cheque deposits, withdrawals, change for businesses, and payment of utility bills. The Hub will have representatives from key banking providers throughout the week on the following days:
• Monday – Barclays
• Tuesday – HSBC
• Wednesday – Lloyds
• Thursday – NatWest (9:30am – 4:30pm)
• Friday – Halifax
Welcoming the opening, John Whitby MP said, "I am delighted to welcome the opening of the Bakewell Banking Hub. For too long, rural communities have faced the loss of high street banking, making it harder for businesses and residents, especially older people, to manage their finances and access face-to-face services with real people.
“This is a crucial step for Bakewell, and a testament to the hard work of all those who helped make this happen. The Hub will ensure Bakewell remains a thriving community, and I’m thrilled to have been a part of achieving this win for residents, businesses, and the millions who come to Bakewell every year to experience one of the most beautiful parts of the country.”
This is the second Banking Hub to open in Derbyshire Dales with Ashbourne opening earlier this Summer.
