Plans have been made to stage the next free to enter Winster Country Show on Thursday, 3rd July in the marquee on the playing fields behind the school. Please bring your entries between 8am-11.45am on the day with the required entry form. This will be available both online at winster.org and in person at Winster Village Shop from Wednesday 11th June. Judging starts at 12noon with public entry for results, teas and cakes from 2pm.
If you come from Winster or the surrounding villages of Elton, Birchover, Wensley, Stanton, Youlgreave, Rowsley and Bonsall, join us at the only Country Show in the area!
There are competition classes for all age groups. Everyone can enter as many times as they like but don’t forget to write pre-school, KS1, KS2, KS3 or adult 17 years and above on the entry form for each item.
Bakers have plenty of scope to show off their skills by entering any or all of the four categories:
• A celebration cake which tastes as good as it looks
• A tray bake cut and ready to serve
• A plain undecorated sponge cake with no additional flavouring but filled with your jam of choice
• A gluten free cake.
If you prefer making jams and jellies or citrus marmalades we have categories for you too.
For flower arrangers there is a choice of three categories:
• A posy of garden flowers in water in an undecorated jam jar
• A door arrangement using recycled and recyclable materials
• An arrangement of garden foliage displayed in water without using floral foam.
Artists can enter a framed painting, drawing or collage in any medium.
Fabric crafters have their chance to shine in the ‘yarnwork’ category for knitting, crochet, weaving, tapestry and macramé. For decorative sewing there is another category for machine or hand embroidery and collage.
Jewellery makers can show their skills by making any item in any material.
Woodwork of any sort has a whole category of its own displaying skill, technique, imagination and craftsmanship.
Just for the younger ones in pre-school, KS1 and KS2 we have a separate class showing us what they can make on their own – a door decoration using recycled and recyclable materials.
Please respect the field and marquee by remembering dogs are not allowed.
Don’t forget to collect your entries at the end of the show! The marquee closes at about 5.15pm
