ROTARY BAKEWELL

Rotary International is the largest service organisation in the world with over 1.2 million members across many countries – more than the United Nations! Every minute of the day, a Rotary meeting will be taking place somewhere in the world.

In Bakewell our work focusses on 4 main areas – Youth, Community, International and Foundation. We currently meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month at the Rutland Arms 12:30-2pm and many with interesting speakers. We also have teatime evening meetings on the last Wednesday in the month at another venue during the year. In addition to fund-raising activities and our charitable work we have a variety of social activities. Recent events include a quiz night, duck race and the usual Christmas collections and celebrations

We also do have fun and Rotary offers a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and gain immense satisfaction from the service we provide.to our local community and to the worldwide charitable foundation in education, health campaigns and in disaster relief

We currently have some 20 Club members, men and women, most living in the immediate local area, of various ages from 30 to 90 – some in employment and some retired.

Post pandemic, we are looking to attract and encourage more people to join us who share our passion for projects, fund-raising and events and to raise our profile in the community to support people in Bakewell and other local areas – and those less fortunate in other countries.
