ROWSLEY CE PRIMARY SCHOOL LINK WITH BHOWANIPORE CEMETERY SCHOOL, KOLKATA

Chloe Lindley, a teacher from Rowsley Church of England Primary School returned to India in January as part of a schools link project. Arranged by the Cathedral Relief Service, the project supports education, health and the empowerment of women in one of the poorest parts of the world. Miss Lindley initially worked with Bhowanipore Cemetery School, Kolkata in January 2024, and returned last month to see how the children have progressed, spending more time helping to teach English.

Miss Lindley said “I feel happy and privileged to be able to meet such amazing people, yet saddened after seeing where the children live with their families. However, the project has come a long way since the last time I visited, and it is nice to see the school continuing to give the children a good quality of education”.

During the trip Miss Lindley shared her experiences with the children back in Rowsley in daily video calls, which brought to life this important link for future generations.
