SUMMER ORGAN CONCERT AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, TIDESWELL SATURDAY 21ST JUNE

Returning to St John the Baptist Church, Tideswell is the internationally acclaimed organist Jonathan Scott for a Summer Concert with an unmissable programme of popular classical music, including works by Bach, Mozart, and Handel’s famous Zadok the Priest!

Jonathan Scott enjoys a hugely varied international performing career on a diverse spectrum of keyboard instruments with a repertoire spanning over 500 years of music, including a catalogue of over 400 of his own transcriptions and arrangements. As Associate Artist of The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, Jonathan gives a series of lunchtime organ recitals which attract huge audiences. In addition, he tours widely performing all over Europe and the Far East. Jonathan also has a busy international concert schedule with his pianist brother, Tom Scott, performing as Scott Brothers Duo. Their online performance videos have totalled over 60 million views and their regular online concerts have reached a worldwide audience of over seven million people.

Born in Manchester, Jonathan studied piano and organ at Chetham’s School of Music and continued his studies in UK, USA and Netherlands. He won the Worshipful Company of Musicians WT Best Scholarship and gold medal, and is a Freeman of The City of London.

The concert in Tideswell is in aid of the Fabric Appeal for the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, to be able to continue our schedule of improving the experience for worshippers and our many visitors. The Appeal so far has supported the complete rewiring of the church and the installation of a new state-of the-art lighting system but we still need to fund repairs to the roof, and to install a disabled toilet and a servery to provide refreshments for the many events that are held here.

Taking place at the beginning of the annual Wakes celebrations in Tideswell, the concert will be held on Saturday 21st June at 4pm, just following the blessing of the village Well Dressing at 3pm. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy both the music and engage in a long held local custom. Tickets for the concert cost £12 and can be prebooked by phoning 07958 549531.
