THE CHATSWORTH PLAYERS THANK DERBYSHIRE DALES COUNCILLORS

Two Derbyshire Dales councillors, Cllr Bob Butcher, (Bakewell) and Cllr Susan Hobson, (Chatsworth) joined the Chatsworth Players in Over Haddon at a recent rehearsal for their next play, Shakespeare’s ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’. Both councillors, together with Cllr Gareth Gee (Bakewell), have supported the Players this year through the council’s Local Projects Fund.

The Players’ chair, Lindsay Jackson said, “It’s so important to us to be supported by our local council. The money is incredibly helpful, people don’t realise how much it costs to stage a show but it’s also the recognition that we’re doing something of value for our community. We’re providing entertainment and enjoyment for our audiences but also a wonderful hobby and creative outlet for so many people who are involved in putting our shows on. The actors you see on stage are the tip of the iceberg. It’s one of the few hobbies in life that you can enjoy at any age and be part of a genuine, joyous, community effort.”

The Local Projects Fund provides support for local initiatives that benefit the local community and you can apply for a grant online at Privacy notice | Apply: local projects fund | Derbyshire Dales District Council.

The Players are performing ‘Merry Wives’ around the Peak District in July, from 10 to 19 July, at Chatsworth, Eyam Hall, Callow Hall, Cromford Mills, Whirlowbrook Hall and Over Haddon. Tickets are on sale now at www.chatsworthplayers.com

And if you would like to be part of their next production, get in touch! Everyone is welcome. chatsworth.players.derbyshire@gmail.com
