….and it did! They are calling it the Miracle of the Methodist Hall when, with just a couple of weeks’ notice of a last minute change of venue and a few hours set up, the hastily re-arranged Hathersage Horticultural Show took place almost entirely as usual. In fact visitors enjoyed the temporary change of venue with its excellent light levels and intimate lay out, although it has to be said, there was much lamentation over the lack of tea and cake – never mind they will be back on the menu next year.
Special recognition must go to President Jenni Wedgwood who masterminded the move and her band of committee members and volunteers who made it all happen in record time – chief among them being Jonny Wilson and his set up team.
To the show itself it was the usual celebration with good numbers of entries in all classes, especially the children’s exhibits. The rolling mobile phone photo display proved to be a great success and the fruit classes in particular reflected the abundance of the season.
