This year’s Winster Hill Race will be taking place on Thursday, 3rd July and is open to local residents, visitors and local running clubs and forms part of the Winster Wakes week-long carnival.
Our race is an 'undulating' 4 miles/ 6.4 kilometers using the lanes, trails and fields around the village. It’s suitable whether you are a competitive or a fun runner wanting to try an entry level hill run. The course includes ‘vomit hill’ to give you a clue as to one gradient, but there are a couple of good size downhill stretches as well. You wouldn’t be the only one walking some sections of the uphill lanes! Minimum entrant age is 14 years on the date of the race due to the distance and gradient.
Both local residents and members of running clubs come along to take part in the race and we hope for a good turn out again this year. The maximum number of entrants is 200.
The course is marshalled at junctions and partially marked up to assist navigation.
You can pre-register on-line for £5 or enter on the night for £7. Pre-registration closes at midnight on 2nd July. You don’t have to part with your money until you arrive to collect your number before the start – so pre-registration at winster.org/pages/winster-hill-race is best.
Prize giving will take place by the finish line, in front of the Bowling Green pub. After the race results will be posted on the Winster Hill Race web page and Facebook page.
Drinking water will be available in the finish area outside the Bowling Green pub and there will be the Wakes Week BBQ sizzling close by to provide sustenance.
