A very talented local resident has been invited to open her cottage garden in Curbar with the National Garden Scheme. The High Sheriff of Derbyshire paid her a visit recently to view the garden, and it will be open to visitors for the weekend of June 21st and 22nd. Her garden is a tranquil haven with views across the Peak District to the south and towards Baslow and Curbar Edges. Wildlife flourishes in the garden with regular visitors including pheasants who turn up regularly requesting food on the patio!
A delightful cottage garden bounded by mature trees and rhododendrons. Features include a shady spring garden, mixed perennial borders, secret summerhouse, south facing patio and pond which is home to newts and dragonflies. Beyond the hedge find a hidden seat to enjoy the kitchen garden, greenhouse and fruit trees, lovingly tended by the grandchildren.
The garden is open 13:30-16:30, adult admission is £4, children, free.
Refreshments include tea, coffee and cake including vegan options. Refreshments in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
