Castleton’s Secret Gardens have become something of a village institution and hard-working and generous gardeners will be opening their private plots to visitors again this June. Visitors come from far and wide, Trinidad, Australia, Japan and many other countries. Locals come too and participants have got to know many ‘regular’ visitors. For the gardeners it is a great opportunity to meet other gardeners, both novice and experienced to exchange ideas and pick up useful tips.

The gardens are within easy walking distance of the village centre and have lovely views of Castleton from different aspects. All in all it is a pleasant way to spend a day whether you are a gardener or visitor.

Treat yourself to home made refreshments in the Village Hall, where you will also find plant sales and hand thrown pots – open to anyone but if you want to walk round the gardens tickets are available from the Village Hall, the Post Office, The Peak Park Visitor Centre, or any participating garden.

All the money raised supports village amenities: The Village Hall, St Edmund’s Church Fabric Fund, Care4Castleton and the Playing Fields, which benefit residents and visitors alike.

The gardens are open from 11am to 4.30pm on both days. Entry: £5 per adult, accompanied children under 16 are free. For Sat Nav: S33 8WN
