HIDDEN COURTYARDS AND GARDENS OF WIRKSWORTH SATURDAY 28TH AND SUNDAY 29TH JUNE

For the past fifteen years Wirksworth’s Hidden Courtyards and Gardens Weekend has given visitors an opportunity to see this intriguing and quirky town up close and personal. Visitors can enjoy the plants, flowers and wonderful vistas offered by more than thirty gardens which are opening to the public on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June from 11am to 5pm.

The gardens range from pretty courtyards and small hidden gems to well-established large gardens and the gardeners will be on hand to share stories of their successes and failures.

Throughout the weekend there will be delicious cakes and refreshments available both in the town and in several of the gardens and plants will be on sale at Wirksworth’s very own Secret Orchard Nursery.

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway will be operating all weekend and visitors have a chance to experience a journey along the Ecclesbourne Valley and enjoy the flower and plant displays at the stations as they pass by. Tickets for the gardens cost £5 (cash only, free for under 16s)) and can be used on both days.

Visitors will be given a wonderful Map and Trail Guide with brief descriptions of the gardens and can select their own route as they meander through this fascinating and friendly town. Whatever your particular interest, there will be something on offer for you. All proceeds raised go to charity and to support local groups so visitors will be enjoying the delights of Wirksworth whilst supporting good causes at the same time. Further information can be found at wirksworthopengardens.co.uk or by telephoning the organisers on 01629 822539.
