NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION: A GARDENERS VIEW

The first thing in the new year is to sit and make yourself a coffee and get a chocolate biscuit while promising yourself not to break this year’s resolution yet again.
1. To eat more healthy. This can be achieved by growing your own. Nothing beats the taste of fresh, home-grown vegetables and herbs. Grow herbs in pots near the house for convenience.
2. Get more active. This can be achieved by getting outside in the sunshine (that’s if we get any this year), and if your time is limited, just sit and have a coffee while sowing a few seeds.
3. Brighten up your home by bringing inside some flowers that you have grown. Nothing beats the smell of flowers and foliage, and it’s cheaper than scented candles.
4. Make more use of your space by growing vertical, for example a few runner beans or sweet peas.
5. Get out, make new friends and meet like-minded people. So come along to Darley Dale Horticultural Society. We have guest speakers and demonstrations approximately 8 times a year, garden visits and coach trips. With free refreshments and free seed swap.
The next meeting is on 27th February at the Methodist Church Hall Darley Dale starting at 7.30pm.
