STONEY MIDDLETON WELL DRESSINGS SATURDAY 26TH TO SUNDAY AUGUST 3RD

ree

Come and visit our well dressing in Stoney Middleton at the end of July. See our three wells…the main well and Bath House wells designed by Si Homfrey, a local graphic designer plus a children’s well combining designs from 9 children in the village…. all following the theme of nature.

We have an action-packed first weekend with lots for all the family.

Saturday 26th July

From 11.30am stalls are open including face painting, putting pieces in the jigsaw puzzle of last years’ well, to be raffled later, building a boat from our junk stall for the boat race, tombola, plant stall and shop with jams, mugs, bags and other well dressing goodies.

From midday our BBQ is open and tea tent with loads of delicious cakes is available from 1pm.

Tideswell Band will be playing to add to the festive atmosphere at 1.30 pm and 2.30pm.

At 2pm our opening ceremony takes place with local councillor, Peter O’Brien, followed by a traditional blessing of the wells by Beth Ely from the Weslyan Reform Chapel in the village.

To keep the children and those young at heart entertained, Chris Marley, a circus entertainer will be walking on stilts and performing juggling acts for 20 mins at 12.45, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

Throughout this weekend a flower display from 2-5pm in the chapel can be visited and home-made scarecrows will be exhibited outside people’s homes.

To conclude our fun at 4pm is the Ball Race. Purchase a numbered ball and they are cascaded down the Bank into the brook – first to arrive is the winner!
