More than five hundred thousand people in the UK have Alzhiemer’s disease. It is the biggest killer in the country. Matlock ukulele group, Strummers (MUGS) have chosen Alzheimer’s Research for their chosen charity fundraising. Earlier this year the sister of one of the group’s musicians was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. WREATH MAKING WORKSHOPS RAISING FUNDS FOR LOCAL HOSPICE CARE
Residents in the Hope Valley and Derbyshire Dales are invited to get into the festive spirit while supporting families affected by life-limiting illness this Christmas. Blythe House Hospice is set to host a series of wreath making workshops in Bamford, Ashford-in-the-Water, and Matlock - with every penny raised helping local people receive expert end-of-life care at home. Ashley is a man of many parts – photographer, writer, cinema enthusiast. Before attending our meeting, Ashley had been at the Ritz Cinema in Belper previewing one of the films showing there. Matlock Music Society continues its exciting 2025/26 season on Friday 7th November with a recital given by the Lumas Winds quintet. The group was established in 2018 and evolved through friendships formed at the National Youth Orchestra, resulting in a very strong bond between its members. Nigel Clayton and Imma Setiadi – piano duet Matlock Music Society begins its exciting 2025/26 season on Friday 3rd October with a recital given by pianists Nigel Clayton and Imma Setiadi. Bringing classical music to a wider audience in an engaging way is at the heart of their work together and they have also been engaged in a number of cross-arts projects. Their recent performances have included recitals at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and St John’s Smith Square, London.
