At the Matlock Probus Club 2026 AGM held on 8th January 2026 at the Duke William, Church Street, Matlock, Mr Roger Flint (outgoing Chairman) welcomed all who had attended. New Chairman, Mr Tony Pyner, was handed the Chain of Office by Mr Roger Flint. Roger was thanked for his Chairmanship during 2025 and Roger announced that the proceeds of the annual fund raising would be presented to the Skegness Holiday Home.
After the business of the AGM meeting, there was a general knowledge quiz which was organised by member, Mrs Christine Robinson. It certainly tested the ‘little grey cells’ and a prize for the winners was duly presented by the new Chairman and his wife.
Discussions about the coming year took place with some interesting speakers being booked. For 5th February Mr Paul Newsham is talking about the Theatres of London. In March Ms Susan Deal will talk about about the Victorian Country House.
Anyone wishing to attend the meetings will be made very welcome. Matlock Probus Club are a mixed group of friendly, retired men and women who enjoy talks and pleasant company. They meet on the first Thursday of the month at 10.30am for coffee/tea at the Duke William, Church Street, Matlock. Talks start around 11am and after this there is the option to stay on for a carvery lunch.
