The sunny bank holiday weekend was perfect for Ashgate volunteers to enjoy the fun and entertainment at Barn Farm Campsite in Birchover.
Starting at 12 noon on Saturday, visitors to the site enjoyed a wellbeing area, locally grown plant sales, jewellery and craft stalls with also a visit from Matlock Fire Crew in their new Fire Engine. The children enjoyed photos with the fire crew, trying on the suits and learning about the fire fighting equipment.
There was a fabulous, colourful display from Bella's Bellydancing with plenty of audience participation mid afternoon!
Animal encounters provided a close up of small animals with fun handling too. Loupy Lou closed the afternoon fun with a traditional Punch and Judy show which was thoroughly enjoyed by children (and adults!). In the evening, Rockin' Red Rocket provided the music.
On Sunday the children were entertained by 'REMI' from KPop with party dances, fun games and songs. Balloon modelling was also on the list of fun for the children and local duo Paper Kite had everyone singing and dancing with their country music, followed by a lively, fun, party session in to the night.
Youlgrave Guides' representatives from the village and Jessica Link (Explorer Scouts) had been busy making colourful bunting, and home-made dog treats for their craft and fun games stalls, raising money for their respective trips, making £69 and £162.50. There was also a cash donation for the village defibrillator fund of £45 for yearly maintenance.
Compass Fostering were also in attendance with their information stall and representatives.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, while raising money for Ashgate Hospice and local causes.
