DERBYSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST (WYE AND UPPER DERWENT GROUP) MACAWS – AN ILLUSTRATED TALK BY CHLOE BROWN MONDAY, 16TH MARCH

Back by public demand. Macaws have vibrant plumage, which is suited to life in Central and South American rain forests, with their green canopies and colorful fruits and flowers. The birds have large, powerful beaks that easily crack nuts and seeds, they also have gripping toes that they use to latch onto branches and to grab, hold, and examine items. The birds have graceful tails that are typically very long. Macaws are intelligent, social birds that often gather in flocks of 10 to 30 individuals. Their loud calls, squawks, and screams echo through the forest canopy. Macaws vocalize to communicate within the flock, mark territory, and identify one another.

The talk starts at 7.30pm at Darley Dale Methodist Church Hall, Dale Road North, Darley Dale DE42 FT, admission is £3. Further information is available by calling 07860 140435.

A brilliant and exciting talk by the local expert on Macaws. Not to be missed.
