MATLOCK MUSIC PRESENTS LIVE MUSIC IN THE DALESJOSH HUGHES – GUITARFRIDAY 24TH APRIL

Matlock Music’s 2025/2026 season continues on Friday 24th April with a recital by Josh Hughes, an emerging classical guitarist who has already established a reputation for his expressive interpretations and refined technique. With his passion for performance of the classical guitar, he brings a fresh yet respectful approach to the repertoire, captivating audiences with both sensitivity and precision. Having studied with Craig Ogden at the Royal Northern College of Music, Josh has developed a distinctive style that blends musicality with technical excellence. He has performed at a variety of venues, festivals and intimate recital settings where his performances are noted for their clarity, warmth and connection with the audience.

His varied programme will include works by Piazzolla (Verano Porteño), Villa-Lobos (Prelude No 1), Rodrigo (Sonata Giocosa), Albeniz (Asturias), Yoshimatsu (Wind Colour Vector), Tárrega (Capricho Árabe), Tadić (Walk Dance) and Ponce (Sonatina Meridional).

The concert is at the Wheeldon Hall, Highfields School, Lumsdale, off the Chesterfield Road, Matlock, DE4 5NA, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets at £15 will be available at the door. Under 18s are free and students and registered job-seekers pay half-price. All seats are unreserved. There is ample parking at the school.
