Wirksworth Community Choir are a small, but perfectly formed, four part choir and we are looking for new members. All voice parts are very welcome….especially tenors. We have a variety of abilities and our well known musical director, Adam Green, encourages everyone’s best, to produce great choral singing. We have no audition but the ability to read music is a plus, though not a necessity.
We have performed in and around Wirksworth for 40 years and sing anything from Britten to Beatles and Sting to Schubert – in other words a varied and wide-ranging repertoire. Rehearsal tracks are always available on our website to help singers learn the music. We perform full concerts throughout the year – our next is Handel’s Messiah on 22nd November at St. Johns Church, Walton, Chesterfield. We are a very sociable lot and also enjoy singing together at places such as Haddon Hall at Christmas, Kirk Ireton Open Gardens day and Lumsdale Garden Fete to name a few. We hold social events during the year, rehearsals are always fun …and you’ll get a good singing workout!
So, if you would like to come along and enjoy an evening singing with like minded folk and try us out, we’d love to meet you. We meet Wednesday evenings (term time) at Wirksworth Junior School, Wash Green, Wirksworth, DE4 4FD. Plenty of free parking is available.
For further information about us please see our website: www.wirks worthcommunitychoir .org and/or contact our chairperson on 07949 157354. We look forward to meeting you.
