DARLEY DALE REMEMBRANCE PARADE AND SERVICE – A HEARTFELT COMMUNITY TRIBUTE

On Sunday 9th November, Darley Dale came together with an impressive turnout for the annual Remembrance Parade and Service. Residents of all ages gathered to honour those who served and sacrificed, reflecting the town’s deep sense of respect and community spirit.

The event was marked by solemnity and gratitude, with heartfelt tributes paid throughout the afternoon. Darley Dale Town Council would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who attended to pay their respects – “Your presence made the occasion truly special”.

A particular note of appreciation goes to Rev. Ann Anderson of Darley Dale Methodist Church and Rev. Stephen Monk of St Helen’s Church, whose words and leadership helped guide the service with grace and dignity.

The Council were also proud to be joined by pupils from Darley Dale Primary School and Darley Churchtown CofE Primary School, as well as members of the Darley Dale Scout Group.

The stirring music provided by the Darley Dale Band added a poignant backdrop to the proceedings, and the Council would like to also thank them for their continued support.

Finally, Darley Dale Town Council acknowledge the civic dignitaries who attended, representing the wider community and helping to uphold the tradition of remembrance in Darley Dale.

“Thank you to all who contributed to this important event — your involvement ensures that the legacy of those we remember lives on”.

For health and safety reasons, this year’s parade followed a new route around Whitworth Park rather than along the A6. The Council understands that the change to the parade route may have been disappointing to some, and appreciate everyone’s understanding. The route will be reviewed again next year.
