MATLOCK TRAVEL SOCIETY CRUISE ALONG THE RIVER TRENT

Our final excursion for the year was a daytime river cruise along the River Trent with Princess River Cruises on which we enjoyed a Christmas lunch. After arriving at the River Lodge at Colwick for refreshments, we boarded the cruise and settled into our journey.

Sadly it was a wet, miserable day outside so views were at times limited but the atmosphere inside the vessel was by no means disappointing!

As soon as we were seated and the journey commenced, we were served very efficiently by the young crew with a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings. There was a lot of chat, catching up, cracker pulling and general merriment, enhanced by the commentary of our journey and Christmas music. Chocolate Yule Log was to follow with tea and coffee. It was altogether a lovely occasion and we all went home the happier for our experience.

Our programme for 2026 is being put together at the moment and will be available in the New Year. Our first excursion is on Tuesday 14 April to Loughborough Bell Foundry together with a train ride to Leicester.
